FAQ - Answers Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Do Orders Usually Take?

We state a typical delivery time of 3-4 working days from the date of placing of the order providing the goods are in stock (which well over 99% of the time they are). However we aim to be (and we generally are) much quicker than that whenever we can. If you have a certain date, e.g. a birthday, by which you absolutely positively must receive your order then please let us know and we’ll do our very best to help.

Out of Stock Items

If an item is out of stock temporarily but we are expecting it in shortly then we’ll hold your order until we can send everything in one go.

If an item is out of stock for more than a couple of days then we’ll email you to advise you of the situation and ask you if you would like us to send everything when the missing item arrives in stock… or if you would prefer us to send what we can straight away and the missing item when we receive it. Of course, there will be no extra shipping charge either way.

We reserve the right to replace items with a similar substitute of an equal or greater value in the very unusual circumstance that we are unable to obtain an item (we always strive to send what you order - if you don't like the substitute you can, of course, return it to us).

We don’t send out packages on Saturdays or Sundays (we need a break too!).

As we are sure you will understand, we cannot be held responsible for the delays caused by any third party.

How Long Does Delivery Take?

We process orders from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with the exception of UK Bank Holidays. We try to send out orders either on the day that we receive them, or the following day, wherever possible.

ParcelForce UK Deliveries

Next Working Day, After The Day Of Dispatch

What does this mean?  Basically, that you will receive your order on the next working day after we dispatch it (see table below).

Please note: We can't guarantee that the day we dispatch your order will be the same day that you place it... unless you select the GUARANTEED Next Working Day Delivery service (see below).

If We Dispatch Your Order On
You Should Receive It On*

* Bank Holiday deliveries excepted - when your order will be delivered on the next working day after the Bank Holiday.

GUARANTEED Next Working Day Delivery

This service (available for Mainland UK deliveries - excluding parts of Scotland) ensures that we dispatch the order the same day that we receive it. So you will receive your order on the next working day.

Please note: the guarantee only applies to orders placed before 1pm on the day in question.

If you need to receive your order as quickly as possible, GUARANTEED Next Working Day Delivery is the option to choose.

Saturday Delivery

We now also offer a ParcelForce guaranteed Saturday delivery service.  This is available to the majority of the UK mainland.  Some parts of Northern Scotland are excluded from this service, due to FedEx restrictions.

Royal Mail Deliveries

Royal Mail 24 - (the business replacement for 1st Class)

The Royal Mail states that, for items shipped using the Royal Mail 24 service, "we aim to deliver your parcels the next working day".

Royal Mail 48 - (the business replacement for 2nd Class)

The Royal Mail states that, for items shipped using the Royal Mail 48 service, "we aim to deliver your parcels within two working days, with a small minority within 3 working days".

However, just like when you post a letter, deliveries can occasionally take longer than these stated target delivery times, and this is out of our control.

Neither the Royal Mail 24 nor 48 services are trackable. In both instances once we have dispatched your order we are unable to influence how quickly it arrives nor can we change the delivery address.

How Do I Make A Purchase?

Making a Purchase
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our shop, and click on any items that you wish to buy and put them into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on "Order" and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to satisfy the order.

We accept payment by debit or credit cards - this is handled by our secure credit card processing facility with PayPal.  We can also accept payment by cheques drawn on UK banks, providing that the cheque guarantee card number is written on the back of the cheque.  In this case orders are processed once the cheque has cleared.

If you are shopping from outside the UK, just place your order as normal and your debit/credit card company will convert the transaction to your own currency.

What If I Am Not Happy With My Order?

We genuinely want you to be delighted with your sweets.

If there is problem at all with the quality of the products, please return them, within 7 days of receipt, to: Customer Returns, A Quarter Of, Unit 10, Appleby Business Centre, Eden Street, Blackburn BB1 3BL. Please enclose your contact details, any reference labels associated with the product and details of the problem.

What About Tax?

For orders made from the UK (excluding the Channel Islands) or the European Union, 20% VAT is added.

All other orders are VAT free and you will not be charged this tax.

What If I Select Cheque Payment Instead Of Debit/Credit Card?

You can send us a cheque (our address is written on your order confirmation email) and, once that has cleared, we will process your order.

Alternatively give us a call on 01254 262160 and give us your card details over the phone.  We'll then process your order straight away.

If we don't receive either form of payment then we'll regard your order as unwanted and we will leave it unprocessed.

  • VISA
  • VISA Delta (Debit)

What is a Card Verification Value (CVV)?

Card Verification Value

The Card Verification Value (CVV) is a 3 (or in some instances 4) digit number found on your debit/credit card. It is an additional safeguard that helps us validate your purchase and protect against fraud. It is not contained in the magnetic stripe information and is therefore not printed on sales receipts.

Where is the CVV located?

You can find your card verification code on the reverse side of your credit card, printed into the signature field. It is a 3-digit group for MasterCard, Visa, and Discovery.

Card Verification CodeAMERICAN EXPRESS

The American Express Card verification code is a 4-digit number printed on the front of your card. It appears after and to the right (above) of your card number.

How Do Gift Vouchers Work?

Purchasing Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers are purchased just like any other item in our store. You can pay for them using the stores standard payment method(s). Once purchased the value of the Gift Voucher will be added to your own personal Gift Voucher Account.

If you have funds in your Gift Voucher Account, you will notice that the amount now shows in the Store Credit section of your Account Information page (which is displayed when you log in or when you click the "My Account" link at the top of the page).

The Store Credit section also provides a link to the page where you can send the Gift Voucher (with an accompanying message if you wish) to someone via email.

How To Send Gift Vouchers

To send a Gift Voucher you need to go to our Send Gift Voucher Page. You can find the link to this page in Store Credit section of your Account Information page (which is displayed when you log in or when you click the "My Account" link at the top of the page).

When you send a Gift Voucher, you need to specify the following:

  1. The name of the person you are sending the Gift Voucher to
  2. The email address of the person you are sending the Gift Voucher to
  3. The amount you want to send. (Note you don't have to send the full amount that is in your Gift Voucher Account.)
  4. A short message which will appear in the email

Please ensure that you have entered all of the information correctly, although you will be given the opportunity to change this as much as you want before the email is actually sent.

Purchasing With Gift Vouchers

If you have funds in your Gift Voucher Account, you can use those funds to purchase other items in our store. At the checkout stage, an extra box will appear.

Ticking this box will apply those funds in your Gift Voucher Account. Please note, you will still have to select another payment method if there is not enough in your Gift Voucher Account to cover the cost of your purchase.

If you have more funds in your Gift Voucher Account than the total cost of your purchase the balance will be left in you Gift Voucher Account for the future.

Redeeming Gift Vouchers

If you receive a Gift Voucher by email it will contain details of who sent you the Gift Voucher, along with possibly a short message from them. The Email will also contain the Gift Voucher Number. It is probably a good idea to print out this email for future reference. You can now redeem the Gift Voucher in one of two ways.
  1. By clicking on the link contained within the email for this express purpose. This will take you to the store's Redeem Voucher page. you will then be requested to create an account, before the Gift Voucher is validated and placed in your Gift Voucher Account ready for you to spend on whatever you want.
  2. 2. During the checkout process, on the same page that you select a payment method there will be a box to enter a Redeem Code. Enter the code here, and click the redeem button. The code will be validated and added to your Gift Voucher account. You Can then use the amount to purchase any item from our store.
