Drumstick Lolly Sweets - What You Need To Know
Drumstick lollies – do you remember these? Goodness, if you don’t, you may have really missed out, but at least these wonderful sweets are still around for us all to enjoy today. Just the sight of them in a heap of exciting little rectangles brings back memories of childhood days, and that’s a wonderful gift!

Of course, something many of us are interested in now which we wouldn’t even have thought about as kids – our weight. So, how many calories are in a Drumstick lolly? Of course, there are a few different sizes, but a 10g Drumstick lolly has 42 calories. Not too bad, right? Of course, if you’re lured in by the bigger lolly options, you’re going to be looking at more calories. Still, a sweet’s a sweet, and they aren’t really selling themselves on being healthy!

On the other questions you might have about these lovely treats, how about: are Drumstick lollies vegetarian? Or even, are Drumstick lollies vegan? Very sadly, it’s a no to both of those, as they contain gelatine, meaning they aren’t suitable for either category. That wonderful tacky texture that is so satisfying to the muncher is not yet available in an animal-free option, though we are ever hopeful that one day it will be so everyone can enjoy these treats fully. The Drumstick lolly ingredients list isn’t overly long, at least, so it’s fairly easy to check out what you’re eating and make sure you’re happy with it. Ingredients include glucose syrup, vegetable oil, and citric acid among others. They are also gluten free, which is great for people with a wheat allergy or Coeliacs!

Drumstick lolly sweets are oddly satisfying in their lumpy, bumpy shapes. Who knows why? Their delicious raspberry and milk flavouring certainly appeals to kids as well, being sweet and mild, and providing that deliciously tempting pink colour. There’s no question that a Drumstick lollipop encourages you to sink your teeth into it! They celebrated their 60th birthday in 2017, so they’re definitely a snack that has been around a while, which is no surprise when you consider how popular they were and still are. No playground was complete without a Drumstick lollipop or two, though in today’s more health-conscious times, you’re unlikely to see them in schools.

Don’t feel that today’s kids are too deprived, though! After all, Drumstick Chews are an invention the older fans certainly didn’t get to enjoy in their youths! The same traditional flavour, but packed into convenient little bundles of chewy loveliness, these are ideal for stowing in your bag and snacking on slowly through the day. Even better, Drumstick Chews are vegan and vegetarian, which means those who favour the traditional sweet but want to be more ethical should keep pushing – it clearly can be done! Swizzels may be open to changing the formula if they get enough comments, but in the meantime, at least there is another option to enjoy this classic flavour guilt-free. We love that the packaging for the chews matches the lolly, with its smart stripes and eye-catching colours.

Drumstick sweets are a wonderful treat for everyone to enjoy, and there’s even a bubblegum option now. No matter whether you prefer your Drumstick on an actual stick, or you’re happy having it in a chunky square (does that make it just a drum, then?), there’s an option to suit you. We’re so pleased the company have kept producing these and are celebrating their age, because after making so many kids so happy for years on end, they deserve it. Drumstick sweets are unquestionably a valuable addition to any sweetshop, and a whole new generation are getting to enjoy them, just as the older generation did in their day!
