Whatever happened to... Nutty Bars?
Sweet Memory
Sweet Memory
I have been looking for years for a sweet called " Nutty". It came in a clear brown plastic wrapper and was fudge covered in peanuts. Would you please let me know if I can still get hold of this or if it is still being made.

These were one of my favourites, I loved Nutty bars. Would love them now too as don't eat chocolate, but a Nutty bar would go down a treat. Find me one....................

I remember these bars got a mention in the first series of "I'm Alan Partridge", when he's listing chocolate bars with Jill. Partridge conclusion - "A good idea, but actually quite painful to eat!"

Hershey's Payday has been noted as similar, but Pearson's Salted Nut Roll (also US only) is almost identical to the Nutty I remember.

Nutty Bars
Nutty bars. I think a Nestle product from the late 70s. Nuts in caramel, like peanut brittle, but in a translucent brown wrapper. It looked like human waste, which is probably why it never continued.

Nutty Bar or just "Nutty"
It was fudgy in the middle, covered in soft caramel and then rolled in unsalted peanuts. It was in a brown plastic wrapper with orange writing that said "nutty" on it in bold 70's style font. I remember it from the mid to late 70's after which time it disappeared. It's one of those sweets that everyone has fogotton about until reminded, and then they all long for it again.

Nutty Bar
A bar of peanuts held together with caramel.
I know you said you can't get them anymore - so, just to say that Hersheys 'Pay Day' bar is very similar. But they've strangely decided to coat salted(!) peanuts with caramel - so they're nowhere near as good as the british equivalent....but the taste grows on ya!!

Nutty Bar
Think it was by Rowntree's, had a brown wrapper, yellow writing. It was a cyclindrical bar of peanuts bound together. a bit like the nut bars you can buy today but it wasn't flat and the nuts werent so tightly packed together - hence more flavour.

Nutty Bars
Hi,
I am a fan of nutty bars and was wondering if such a thing was available.
Also, can you still get spangles, and something similar to a texan bar ?
I will not say what I would do for a nutty bar, I haven't had one in maybe 20 years!!
What ever happened to the Cabana bar by Cadburys ?
I look forward to hearing from you
Kind Regards
S.W.

Uncanny! 0ver a year since p.t.'s note was posted and it sounds like my sister-in-law and i are having having the same conversation as someone on 17th nov 2004. Problem is we don't have the answer just asking the same question. Can anyone help!

Has there been any update on the nutty bars and cabana's. They were a favourite of mine too, I remeber greedily buying the nutty 3 pack.

Nutty bars were my fav. Been thinking about them for years wishing they would bring them back. As someone else said, I would eat all the nuts first then the caramel and then the fudge. Please bring them back. My stable diet at school lunchtimes!
Texan bars were on sale here this summer. Not quite the same but damn near.

Nutty Bars
Hi guys, I hope I can help a bit - Nutty Bars were the best if you know any US service personnel ask them to go on base and purchase some PAY DAY bars as these are the exact replica happy hunting guys!

Nutty bar
Hi, Nutty bar was great and was made by rowntree. It was discontinued in the mid eighties due to a drop in sales.
Many thanks G.

Nutty Bars...
Not sure why they were withdrawn either - I loved them. However, Hersheys in the US make a very similar peanut bar (which is just as yummy) called PayDay.

Yeah, they were cool and I seem to remember they were cheaper than other bars because of the lack of chocolate, handy when you were on a budget of 10p.

Have found a Nutty Bar taste and look-a-like. The Payday bar made by Hersey - if you have a friend going to the US get them to bring them back or buy them from a US food importer online. They take you right back - why is this sweet not made any more they are the best.

Nutty Bars
We get lots of requests for these. We remember them well but we don't know what happened to them (or why they would have been withdrawn -they were delicious!!!)

I remember these. Absolutely loved them. Completely forgot what the centre was tho... fudge, eh? No wonder I liked them so much. :)
The nearest thing I've found are Reece's Nutrageous bar - peanut butter wrapped in caramel, covered in nuts, and coated with chocolate. I'm gonna have to see if I can get hold of a Pay Day to see how close it is to the original!

I remember the nutty bars from the 80s I thought I was the only one, or imagined they ever existed. Oblong bars covered with nuts and one thing i do remember they tasted great.

I remember Nutty Bars and until finding this site thought I was the only one who did. Asked all my friends and anyone new, I met, to see if they did. The answer was always no. I remember them in a brown see-through plastic wrapper with large orange bubble lettering saying NUTTY. The bar itself was really firm and chewy (toffee and something else mixed) and covered in peanuts. Used to love nibbling the peanuts off first then eating the centre. Would love to see them make a come back. Texan bars, another favourite, did recently!

I have been missing Nutty bars for years and am thrilled that someone can actually remeber them. It was such a wonderful combination especially if you ate all the peanuts off the fudge and then ate the fudge separately, yum!
