Description

Mouthwateringly delicious, steeped in tradition and just simply one of the best ‘feel good’ sweets on the market.

Strawberry Bonbons are a real old-fashioned favourite. So old in fact that the earliest trace of these delicious treats can be linked back to the 17th century where they were made for the Parisian royal court. The French also lay claim to the name as “bon”, which in French, basically translates to “good”. Fast forward 300 years and we’d say that is still a pretty accurate description of them today!

Be warned though, if you do happen to go to France anytime soon and want to express how much you enjoyed your plate of Boeuf Bourguignon. Don’t say “Bonbon” thinking you’re saying “good” twice. The two bons together simply translate to “candy” so you would be unknowingly ordering your dessert... Which could be a nice surprise, unless you leave before it arrives.

Anyway, we think Bonbons are so “bon”, we sell them in lots of weird and wonderful flavours. Don’t forget to browse our full range below:

What are Strawberry Bonbons? We hear you say. Well, I guess if you were born post-1980’s you can be forgiven for not knowing the answer to that question. A Strawberry Bonbon consists of a chewy centre in a crisp casing and a dusting of sweet and strawberry icing sugar. The strawberry casing has a nice strong flavour and then the middle bit is made up of firm toffee. What a combination!  How do you eat a Strawberry Bonbon? We’re not going to tell anyone how to eat their Bonbons, but you only really have two choices – Bite straight in and enjoy the soft centre immediately, or suck on the outer casing for a while before reaching the chewy surprise in the middle.  What’s the difference between a Starberry Bonbon and a Truffle? Truffles are typically filled with ganache and rolled in cocoa powder and/or nuts! Whereas bonbons are a classic hard sweet with a firm but chewy toffee centre. How much sugar is in a Strawberry Bonbon? About 5 grams per Bonbon. But we’re willing to bet that nobody in history has ever eaten just the one, So just multiply that by the amount you have (and don't feel guilty)!Strawberry Bonbon CocktailAt AQuarterOf.co.uk we’re always looking at interesting ways to enjoy our sweets.
