I’ve no idea what they were called but I remember eating tons of these in the early 80s. They were sold by the quater, had a metallic coating and looked like large ball bearings (about 5mm diameter). Rumour had it they contained something vaguely poisonous and were withdrawn. I haven’t grown a second head or anything as a result of eating so many, but did used to set off those airport alarms quite alot as a child.
