Splicer

Found out the name of the fruit rainbow chewy bars from the 1970s – they were called Splicer – anyone lese remember these or know of something similar?? Liz

Yes, and I even remember the jingle and the music to the advert! How sad is that!?

    It goes like this:

“Splicer is nicer than any I know
The chewiest, newest star of the show”

  2. Matt remembers: -

Oh yes indeed – I remember eating many of them as a seven year old, and they had a strapline on the adverts of “Splicer is Nicer” (original!). Does anyone remember those funny multi coloured cardboard hats they gave away with them now and again, which started off flat and you popped up the middle to find a rainbow spiral? They broke within about 5 minutes, but they were fun!

thank goodness someone else knows what a
“splicer” is,my family think I’ve lost the plot!!!thanks for your info from a nostalgic 1970′s child.

Yes I remember Splicer bars and wish you could still get them. They were delicious!

I remember these bars. If I remember correctly the advert showed someone walking along the street and everything was completely white. When they took a bit of the splicer bar, everthing surrounding them took on all different colours. The bar used to remind me of squashed up opal fruits. All the good ones seem to fade away

Hi, My friend Lynne was talking about Splicers today and how her husband thinks she made them up…one search later and here we are! Thanks for proving that they were a sweetie from her youth and if by any chance anyone knows if they still exist…pass the info on please…C.x

I can vaguely remember a multi coloured fruit flavoured candy bar, whose advert was a bunch of kids riding in go karts to a catchy jingle ?? Simon

At last – someone else remembers Splicer bars! My Brother is convinced I made it up – or it’s a throwback from smoking something leftover from the 60s. I remember the ad with the racing cars and the winner with a tropy full of Splicer bars – even the song…………’Splicer is nicer, it’s great every time – bursting with raspberry and lemon & lime’…… sad I know. Please someone prove me right!

Don’t other web sites keep calling this bar Striper?
Anyway didn’t the advert on TV go something like…”Splicer is nicer…..”?
Can’t remember the rest, but can remember the chewy fruity bar itself, thought is was lovely, well I was about 7.
