My mum’s favourites

by Mark Edwards

Hi, I wrote once before about nutty bars, seems like I wasn’t the only one!!! Now my mum is reminiscing about Wilkinson’s Marzipan teacakes. These looked like pontefract cakes, as in they were flat and round, but they were a little chewy and tasted a bit like nutty toffee. I liked them too, we used to [...]

Nutty Bars

Hi as far as I know, Nutty bars were withdrawn due to the peanuts being a ‘choking hazard’ – strange when you consider bags of peanuts are readily available! Cheers Tracy PS – what ever happened to Gold Nuggets/Gold Rush(?) chewing gum in the little drawstring bags?

Sweet Memory

by michaelp

Sweet Memory I have been looking for years for a sweet called ” Nutty”. It came in a clear brown plastic wrapper and was fudge covered in peanuts. Would you please let me know if I can still get hold of this or if it is still being made.

Can you remember Nutty Bars also they were gorgeous caramel centre with nuts on the outside don’t know your ages but if I can find it will send you some thing what will make you think bout your childhood. Paula

  1. Kath Laws remembers: -

I have been missing Nutty bars for years and am thrilled that someone can actually remeber them. It was such a wonderful combination especially if you ate all the peanuts off the fudge and then ate the fudge separately, yum!

  2. chilli remembers: -

These were one of my favourites, I loved Nutty bars. Would love them now too as don’t eat chocolate, but a Nutty bar would go down a treat. Find me one………………..

  3. Steve Beaman remembers: -

I remember these bars got a mention in the first series of “I’m Alan Partridge”, when he’s listing chocolate bars with Jill. Partridge conclusion – “A good idea, but actually quite painful to eat!”

  4. scruss remembers: -

Hershey’s Payday has been noted as similar, but Pearson’s Salted Nut Roll (also US only) is almost identical to the Nutty I remember.

Nutty bars. I think a Nestle product from the late 70s. Nuts in caramel, like peanut brittle, but in a translucent brown wrapper. It looked like human waste, which is probably why it never continued. David

It was fudgy in the middle, covered in soft caramel and then rolled in unsalted peanuts. It was in a brown plastic wrapper with orange writing that said “nutty” on it in bold 70′s style font. I remember it from the mid to late 70′s after which time it disappeared. It’s one of those sweets [...]

Nutty Bar

A bar of peanuts held together with caramel. I know you said you can’t get them anymore – so, just to say that Hersheys ‘Pay Day’ bar is very similar. But they’ve strangely decided to coat salted(!) peanuts with caramel – so they’re nowhere near as good as the british equivalent….but the taste grows on [...]
