Hi, It used to be possible to get a large flat pack or presentation box  of all sorts of liquorice sweets, Catherine reels with coloured beans in the middle, magic wands, long strips,snakes etc and so forth. Thanks Roy

When I was growing up I used to get liquorice selection boxes for Christmas they had things like your catherine wheels in and wands etc, but they also had liquorice pipes, have these been banned to stop kids imitating smoking? I bought some in a sweet shop in Ambleside in September 2006. Nice, but not quite the same (the fontant bit in the pipe bowl wasn’t nice!).
It was great fun (and totally non-PC) giving one to each of my kids and getting them to pretend to smoke!!
