I’ve been looking for fizzle sticks. I believe they used to be made by Festoon confectionary. Do you stock them or are you aware of where they can be bought? Niall

Great website – myself and the kids are drooling while looking at all the goodies! Did you ever hear of FIZZLE STICKS which came in three flavours – I used to buy them in the 1980′s. They looked like long pieces of chalk in pink, yellow, and green! They were very popular here in Ireland. Would [...]

Fizzle Sticks – 1974 or thereabouts Candy stick, about 5 inches long, about half-inch wide, oval, because it had been cast or moulded in two halves, so there was a seam down the long edge. Texture like a big “sweet Cigarette” (I know!), they had several fruit flavour/colours – yellow/lemon, pink/strawberry, orange and green, which [...]

Thanks for this page, have been racking my brains to try and remember what these sweets were called. I also spent my wages on a box and tried to limit myself to a couple a day (not easy!)Have tried various imitations but nothing comes close!Cant remember who made them but I wish they still did!

Fizzlesticks Pastel coloured sticks with a mild sherbert taste with a slightly chalky consistency. very popular in the 70′s and early 80′s….

  1. Shazzer remembers: -

I used to work in a Tuck Shop in the early 80′s and the owner sold these fizzle sticks, but they were all broken pieces and we used to call them “chalks” and would buy them 1/2 lb or 1 lb at a time… Absolutely loved them.

  1. sharina byrne remembers: -

where are they gone.does anyone know where you can get them they were the tastiest thing ever. i remember my granny giving us 10p every week and we used to go to the shop and get a trigger bar(which are chomp bars now) and they were 7p and the fizzle-sticks were 3p. it was the best 10p i ever spent. so if anyone know where i can get my hands on some i would greatly appreciate it. thanking you all very much.

  2. Julie remembers: -

I have searched high and low for these, i last got some about 16 years ago, i used to spend all my pocket money on them often buying whole boxes.
They don’t do them anymore, i have checked all the cash and carry’s and sweet manufacturers but they stopped making them years ago.
I would love for these to be made again, i would buy hundreds of boxes and that’s no exaggerating.

  3. Fiona Melvin remembers: -

My sister, brother and me would go to the ends of the earth for these if they re-appeared Wasn’t it Swizzel Matlow who manufactured them? I too would buy them by the van load if i could find them.

  4. Sharon remembers: -

I remember getting fizzle sticks on my way to school (way back when…). If anyone discovers them being made again I would love to know as I can see the stampede to get them. These come up in conversation with me & my friends every so often. Thanks.
