Callard & Bowser Dessert Nougat

by michaelp

Delicious nougat in a box. About 6 individually wrapped pieces. They had glace cherries and almonds and were wrapped in rice paper. absolutely scrummy.

1. The individual wrapping was silver with an edible rice paper under that – no sticky fingers.

2. They weren’t glace cherries, they were rose flavoured jellies.

3. No idea what happened to them, but would like to know.

My grandfather used to buy these for me! Tragically, Suchard, who bought the Callard and Bowser name, have discontinued production of the most delicious sweets ever!! Shame on them!

Actually according to the company’s releases, was a decison of the american company Wrigley who make chewing gum and who acquired callard and bowser brand last year. Shame indeed.

I’ve been looking for these for years. We used to have them every Christmas when I was a kid. Everything about them was just glorious. Yummo! I had a nasty feeling they must have been discontinued so your post about Suchard confirms it. What were they thinking??? No other nougat comes close.

Yes an absolute disgrace. I propose a ‘bring back desert nougat’ campaign!
