Everlasting toffee

Think it was made Burton's; a popular provider of childrens sweets and snacks in the 1970s in Leicestershire primary schools. Everlasting toffee was very hard and made in a long flat strip and covered in a paper wrapper. Lasted for weeks!

Toffee

Whatever happened to everlasting strips of toffee that used to cost 3d and lasted all day in the 50s and 60s? Also ear shaped sweets that cost 1p in the 80s, they had a sour taste at first and then lasted for ages with a lovely chewy jelly flavour, I used to buy a 100 at a time!
