Are you sure they're not the same as the sweets now sold under the name York Fruits - my Gran calls those Newberry fruits.

One of my mother's favourites was Meltis Newberry Fruits, but haven't seen them for quite some time. Can you help???

In the Bedfordshire & Luton Archives and Records service (!) it states that they aquired the archives of Meltis Plc following the liquidation of the firm in 1996. (Put Meltis New Berry fruits into Google search!) At end of article there it states thast trade name was purchased by Hosta UK of Oxfordshire who became Hosta Meltis Ltd. Do read article if you're interested, it's quite sad really! I'm going to search for Hosta Meltis to see if there is any New Berry fruits info there!

Meltis went bankrupt about 8 years ago. No other manufacturer has decided to pick up production of NewBerry Fruits. Sadly. :(

Perhaps someone could persuade a manufacturer to make the sweets. They were totally different to anything that exists today, and there would surely be a market for them.

A group of us were talking about these the other day. Please tell me you can still buy them - Christmas has not been the same for some years without the Newberry Fruits!
