Black = Liquorice!

If you liked the liquorice flavour, Lions still do them: Liquorice Gums. I regularly buy mine from my local Morrisons supermarket. If you contact Lion the manufacturer (Westgate, Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire), they will probably give you the name and location of other stockists.

Lions Sports Mixture
For over the last 50 years I have been a big fan of Lions sweets and have just bought a bag of Sports mixture with the name Maynard's on it. I am so disappointed that they have felt the need to change what has always been a great sweet! he new back flavour, blackcurrant leaves me cold. As a Yorkshire lass who used to buy then when they were 4 a penny (old money) I don't think the new flavour been a good idea at all.

i can accept trying out a new flavour but how dare they get rid of the black ones! The black ones are so popular around here that that you can buy quarters of them. (Sorry 250g of them.)

Couldn't agree more, the new Maynard's versions are horrendous.
However, I managed to find the real thing in a little sweet shop during a visit to Hoyland, South Yorkshire. The real 'Lions' versions, including Midget Gems, Uncle Bens and Butterscotch Tables............hmmmmmm heaven.
